..as I continue my journey down memory lane, I once partied with Foghat, and met Roger Earl on 3-4 occasions. The first time was two consecutive nights on their reunion tour with Steppenwolf and The Outlaws, in both Phoenix and Tucson, and in Tucson John Kay of Steppenwolf was holding my hand and wouldnt let go when I met him crossing the parking lot before that concert. Like an idiot I kept moving on with my friend Maura, her brother Michael Manning was Foghats road manager who has some mention in at least one of their album liner notes. To show what an ever BIGGER IDIOT I am, I turned Roger Earl down for a dinner date in Phoenix during a later tour at a club, fearing I would lose my seat in the front of that venue (The Mason Jar on Indian School Rd.). WHAT WAS I THINKING??? a few years later during yet another tour, Roger and I met up again in Atlanta at the Cotton Club, and a person took a photo of Roger and I but I lost that persons phone number and never got a copy of the photo. Oh I could go on for hours about all the people of note Ive met, almost always by accident, including presidents and first ladies and governors and other musicians, etc. etc. Why does it matter? It really doesnt but hey, I just find it nostalgic to reflect on these things LOL. I had a FUN AD RICHLIFE friends, and this is one reason i can be a content homebody in my old age, I didnt miss out on anything I really wanted to do, including being a small time performer myself.
