as a history nut theres one thing I hate about war movies; they never get the sound of the MG 42 right, in the movies they sound like theyre shooting 500 rpm (8 rounds per second), in reality they shoot 1500 rpm (25 rounds per second), thats so fast that veterans say you couldnt hear individual rounds and it sounded like one long zip when fired, and its extremely high rate of fire was so effective and intimidating that the the American army had to make films specifically to deal with the shell shock it caused among its soldiers, and was so good that the MG 3 which is the standard machine gun of the modern German army is nothing more than an updated mg42 with the rate of fire upped to 1800 rpm (30 rounds per second). yet every time you see one in the movies it always sounds and works like some crappy, slow firing British or American machine gun you agree Blair George
