at about 7:40 in this video Fab uses a LA-2A as a hardware insert in Pro Tools through the Apollo in PT Mode. By the looks of the input monitor buttons on the mix window I think he is using HD software. Does this mean that the Apollos pt mode is similar to the Symphonys pt mode? but instead of plugging the apollo into your pcie card where you would normally have your 192 or hd i/o like you wold with the symphony, the apollo would essentially be emulating a pt hd native thunderbolt system? In which case you would need hd software to make this work easily/accurately. OR does the apollo software ping pro tools in the same manor that the i/o plug-in in logic pings your interface? If that is the case would it be possible for me to insert outboard through hardware inserts in pro tools (non-hd vanilla) with out having the manually set the latency? that almost seems too good to be true. Am I WAY off here?? Any apollo users out there feel free to chime in and let me know your experiences!
