avflorist 661.948.6006 A public art project that will honor our Local Legends. Larry Chimbole is the first mayor of Palmdale, he helped incorporate the city in 1962, he is a mover and shaker. He also represented the region as a California Assemblyman. Chimbole , who will turn 95 this May is still actively involved in the community and very proud to call Palmdale his home. The statue will show Chimbole seated on a bench with one arm resting atop the back of the bench to encourage visitors to sit and visit and take a photo with this local legend. A series of statues of other Legends is envisioned throughout Palmdale. The Statue Committee selected local artist Michael De Medina of American Metal Arts Studios in Palmdale to create the Larry Chimbole statue. All monies for the project will be collected by the Palmdale Community Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 established in 1997. No public funds will be used to build the statue, the Community and Larrys friends will contribute funds. the City of Palmdale has been very gracious allowing the statue to be placed in Poncitlan Square, representing public art, history, tourism, and civic heritage. cityofpalmdale.org/foundat...
