back in the 70s there was a huge push to plant soy in the usa, where corn used to grow... at the same time lots of new soy products came onto the market... i had a few friends studying the commercial ag practices, and they told me the reason for this sudden push to promote soy, was because the usa soils were so dead from commercial ag that soy, being a hardy nitrogen fixing plant was one of the few plants that could grow in such harsh soil conditions that used to grow corn.... the soy helped absorb the chemicals, so suddenly soy is the new word in health and products, but they did not tell us we were eating pesticides and other noxious chemical residues in the soil with our soy.... and now here it is again, most likely gmo soy....
