before telling one beautiful incident taht happened in the life of bhakta gnanananda tirtha due to maha swami first i should explain very very briefly the life history of bhakta gnanananda tirtha to understand that incident in a better way. bhakta gnanananda tirtha has borned as sri ogirala veera raghava sarma garu on 23-3-1908, phalguna ahula panchami. since childhood hu uses to compose songs on different gods. for ex one song is ve vega rava deva in the raga kapi. after learning vedas upto ghana from his father sri sri ramamurthy sastry garu he went to srikalahasti for higher education in vedas. before joining every day he uses to meditate on gayatry in the river suvarnamukhi. then he was 15 years old. at the same time one yogi saint srinathanamda tirtha aged 90 yers uses to go on his jobs on that way. he observed the boy in meditation for few days. then with curiosity he approached the boy and asked about his details. after seeing the saint the boy told that he came to join veda pathasala. then the saint tested him vedas.after that the saint told the boy that there is no lose to anybody if he didnot learn vedas and ordered the boy to accompany him. he uses to stay in a cave in a hill. then the boy was initiated into purna gayatry and ordered to pour water that was used during rituals on a already dead tree. after 3 years that tree became alive due to spiritual power in that holy water. this was observed by the saint. he was surprised and felt happy at the incident. he called the boy embarced him with happiness and that the tree is indicates tahe he attained gayatry maha mantar siddhi in 3 years for which he has taken 3o long years in his life. he asked the boy to stop his rituals. then the saimt named the boy as GNANANANDA TIRTHA and told him he should not use this spiritual tytle immediately. first he should live like a gruhasta in seclusion without any publicity and without showing any miracles. as this was his last birth he should under go karma sesham. the saint srinathanamda teertha was so pwerful he uses to ask boy to take bath in the river suvarnamukhi. in the mean time he uses to go to holy city kasi in akasa marga with kamandalam, takes bath in river ganga with water in kamandalam he uses to come back. one more interestin point is the water in kamandalam never ends till the next day. the boy did penance without food for 3 years. the saint uses to offer him some leaves of a plant. another thing is they uses to meditate in open area. naturally sun light uses to fall on them. to protect them from sun the saint uses to throw his amga vastam in air. it uses to float in air and move as per the sun direction providing them shdow. the saint was a tamil brahmin who was known in earlier part of life as raghaunatha ghana pathi. i do not more details about him. then he got married and learnt music under late sri hari nagabhaushanam pantula garu. he startred his life as a vocal artist from chennia giving concerts in radio, sabhas. at chennai only he established gayatry panchayatana peetham in 1930s . tduring 2 nd world war time he moved to repalle in guntur district , ap. here his life started as a saint composer. on one holy fri day he has composed his first song kavave kamalakshi in the raga jaganmohini. he was worshipping gayatry during holy navaratry days. during one auspicious navaratry pujas one nighe bhakta gnanananda tirtha was sleeping. then he got a dream . in that divine mother appeared to him and granted him a boon. he requested her to bless him with sri vidhaya maha mantra. she happily blessed him with sri vidhaya maha mantra. after comming into senses a song pinna vaniga nannu pilachi brovave amba in the raga maya malava gowla. normally peethadhipatis will give sri vidhya mantra deeksha. but he was blessed by that great maha mantra by none other than the divine mother her self. in theses days he composed songs with mudra as raghava. once he got an opportunity as pricipal of a music college at kaulalampur. he also decided to go. after hearing this his admirers at chennai laje s/sri c.rajagopalachari, great violinist dwaram vemkata swami naidu ,actor chitoor v nagaiah etc arranged a farewell party in his honour. that is fri day. after puja he has to catch a train to chennai. immediately after puja a song vomtariga vedamulaku anupaka na vemta ravale namma mukkamti nii bamtu in the raga vachaspati. the meaning of the song is he has to go foreign land for livelihood pl come along with me and save from accidents and bless me with victories. after fuction he was sleeping. the divine appaered to him in the dream and told him not go to foreign land. instead he shoud go with some persons to kovvur in west godavari district , ap for an assignment and live in seclusion leaving his concerts etc. then he moved to kovvur. one tamil ips officer late v srinivasan was sp at eluru. he went to meet sri chandra sekharendra saraswati swami for initiation into sri vidhya. then swamiji asked where he was posted. he said eluru. then swami said why you came here for this when you having a great person named sri ogirala veera ragahva sarma at kovvur . i will not give you initiation in sri vidhya. you go to him and take initiation from him. swamiji also told him that sarma will say at the begining he will not give initiation. he donot have that habit. but you tell him that i am sending you for this purpose. after few days sri srinivasan came to kovvur. he could not gather any information about the saint. then he met a political leader sri alluri bapineedu. then finally sri srinivasan came to the saint. on the order of maha swami the saint initiated sri srinivasan into sri vidhya. on the advice of his spiritual guru saint sri nathanamda teertha he never gives initiation to any body. during his life time he has given initiation to very few persons. the relation ship betwen sri srinivasan and the saint existed till their depature from this earth. that was the greatness of maha swami. in the year 1982 he composed a song manasa sada siva manini in the raga surati. this was the first song composed by him with mudra as gnanananda tirtha . when he was surprising his spiritual guru appeared to him in a dream and gave permission to use the spiritual tytle GNANANANDA TIRTHA given by him at sri kalahasti as his karma sesham is over and he canlive with that tytle. from 1982 - 1989 he lived as gnanananda tirtha . but he never assumed sanysa ashram. at the same time he never composed a song with mudra as raghava during his life again. this type of incident we will not find in the life of any other saint composer. saint gnanananda tirtha and maha swamy admired and respeted each other. during the last days of saint composer maha swami send his personnal disciple, a sanyasi to bless the saint before his departure from this earth. bhakta gnanananda tirtah attained maha samadhi on margasira bahula dwadasi on 4-1-1989. after few years maha swami also attained maha samadhi on the same tithi as per lunar calendar at the same time. every year i observe aradhana festival of bhakta gnanananda tirtha and maha sawmi at kovvur at is ashram gayatri nilayam. jaya jaya samkara hara hara samkara with regards and sorry for long post.
