bitterness is like a cancer... It just keeps growing and growing until it kills you. If you are bitter, ask God to cleanse your heart. This is serious stuff and not to be taken lightly. If you think it doesnt matter, think again. Some of the symptoms (emotions) of bitterness are: depression, anger, antagonism, arrogance, self-reliance, hurt, self-pity, and insecurity. Matthew 6:15 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. One of my favorite people is Corrie Ten Boom. She impacted my life as a child growing up. I read her book Her Life Her Faith I admired her so much. She was a dutch women who helped the Jews hide in her house when Hitler was killing the Jews. Her family risked their lives to help save the Jews from the evil hands of men who wanted them tortured and killed. A man turned on the Ten Boom family and had them reported. The whole family was taken and put into those concentration camps. Her father died and then her sister Betsie. Her sister Betsie was beaten severely by one of the guards and Corrie witnessed the whole thing. After being released due to a clerical error (a week later all girls her age were killed in that camp) God used Corrie to share her testimony to many around the globe. She encountered the guard that beat her sister. The guard had become a christian. He came up to her to ask for her forgiveness. She said she struggled with bitterness but the Lord gave her the grace to forgive this guard who did those cruel acts to her sister. The guard sobbed. Corrie encountered many others that she had to forgive along the way. It wasnt easy but the Lord gave her the grace to forgive these people who did many cruel acts. Ask God to soften your heart. Ask Him for the grace to forgive those that have hurt you deeply. God can do a miracle in your heart. Trust me He can do the impossible. It may not happen overnight and it may just so happen that God supernaturally delivers you from your bitterness. Ask God to get to the root of the bitterness to cut it off from your life.
