#ca4upsc Govt formulates draft of National Sports Development Bill 2013 The government has formulated a draft of the National Sports Development Bill, 2013 to bring all the National Sports Federations and the BCCI under the RTI Act. Sports Minister Jitendra Singh said, the government is seeking views of general public and all the stake holders on the draft bill. However, he said it is not possible to indicate a definite time frame for the enactment of the Bill. He said some of the issues need detailed deliberation and consultations among various ministries. He gave this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha early this week. In reply to another question, the Sports Minister said the Law and Justice ministry has prepared a preliminary draft bill to discourage sports fraud including match-fixing in relation to national and international sporting events. As far as the involvement of the corporate sector in sports is concerned, he said, the government believes that the corporate sector can contribute a lot to the development of sports.
