care act glitches and and the shut down republicans are united - TopicsExpress

care act glitches and and the shut down republicans are united because half of them feel this act does not go far enough, and the rest are just party players. the democrats lack unity and clarity. let’s put the selfish shut down aside for a moment. in general democrats believe in incremental changes to help people, while the republicans will wait a few generations to get the whole thing right at once. as this act comes to fruition the details of it are becoming stranger. the number of chnages and concessions do not justify the simple sentence of helping the poor. it’s a great thing that for once we are Actually helping the poor, rather than just talking about it. ultimately it’s impossible to get it exactly right, so it is better that we have excess than lack. SNAP has shown this. more people are getting benefits than need it. this has to be better than a system where people go without. and i feel it is the height of arrogance and selfishness to complain this comes from the backs of working people. society takes care of those in need. however, the changes across the board to the health care system in this case do not make any sense, relative to the goal of universal care. this is why the repiblicans have been blocking this, to wait long enough to figure out how to get it right. the democratic approach of incremental change in this case is too little help for too much change. i must side with the republicans. but as far as this shut down, how can these people be elected to represent the people, then just decide not to show up to work because they don’t like a law; a law which was in fact signed by congress, and is by definition constitutional. At any job I’ve ever been, if you don’t show up arbitrarily, you get fired immediately. thousands and thousands of governemt workers are going without pay due to this cowardly blockade by the republicans. how is this representing the people?
