caught up (harpazo The caught up (harpazo) of the Rapture theory A Students asks: Would you please tell me your thoughts on the mark given to Cain after the murder of Abel. I know it was something spiritual, but could it also mark him some way on the physical body so people would know he was from the satanic seed line and could differentiate from God’s chosen people? Regards, [Xxxx Xxx] Answer: Hi, sorry to take so long—I have been so busy lately.... The mark must have been visible or how else would people know it was there. Gen 4:13-15 13 And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear. 14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. 15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. KJV mark: Hebrew word #226 owth (oth); probably from OT:225 (in the sense of appearing); a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc.: KJV - mark, miracle, (en-) sign, token. Is it present today? Perhaps in some it is—but there has been so much mixing with that host-people. What is it? I dont think that anyone knows for sure. Some say its the Jewish (hooked) nose. I dont know. Not all Jews have that feature. And only the elite among the Jews (the International Judaics) are pure Kenites anyway. And not all Kenites have the same features either. And Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is a flourishing industry, most all of the Jewish movie stars have had them for decades since the birth of Hollywood, which is why most people dont recognize Jewish actors as Jewish. But not all Jews are Kenites, like I said; in fact, only a small portion of them are—and they arent on TV except by inadvertent necessity. There are other visible features that are not changeable, but that which I am not going to be printing—because it could lead to Kenite-hunting, or false-positive identifications. It isnt a cop-out to say that they are best discerned spiritually—for you can truly feel ones presence if you are attuned to such things. Peace to you in Christ... Students replys: Thank you so much..that helps….one more question please! I am a new student, about a month now, and find it just wonderful! I can’t believe how much I have learned, and things make more sense to me now then in my 10 years of being a born again believer of Jesus Christ. Many light bulb moments on your web site. Please, Please cover the word “caught up”…I know you taught on it before, and I need to be able to really teach that, as I lead a small group of women in bible study who are all for the rapture. We are getting ready to study all the books of John in January and I want to lead this study wisely. Thank you and may God continue to bless your ministry. Regards, [Xxxxx Xxxxxx] Answer::: Please cover the word caught up Ah, the Rapturists favorite Bible word. It is upon this word, harpazo in the Greek, Caught up in the English, that Rapturists rest their case. In this word they think they have a Rapture reference in the Bible. They do not, of course, but they suppose that they do, because beguiled Rapture preachers told them that this is the so-called Rapture. You mentioned that you were going to We are getting ready to study all the books of John; you speak in the plural; i.e., (that is) all of the books of John; but the word harpazo is not contained in any of the three Epistles of John. However, if you meant to say the Gospel of John, then you are in luck, for in your studies you shall encounter the word harpazo four times in the Gospel of John; vis. (to wit, or namely, a term used extensively by Bullinger in his Companion Bible) John 6:15, 10:12, 10:28, and 10:29. In the below four Scriptures I have shaded the English words that the Translators used to translate the Greek word harpazo; and, as you can see, it sure isnt any Rapture that you want to be in: John 6:15 15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. KJV John 10:12 12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. KJV John 10:28 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. KJV John 10:29 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Fathers hand. KJV Greek word #726 harpazo (har-pad-zo); from a derivative of NT:138; to sieze (in various applications): KJV - catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take (by force). (Biblesofts New Exhaustive Strongs Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.) You asked specifically about the term caught up. Below is every occurrence in the King James Bible of the English term caught up: 2 Corinthians 12:2 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. KJV 2 Corinthians 12:4 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. KJV 1 Thessalonians 4:17 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. KJV Revelation 12:5 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. KJV caught up: Greek word #726 harpazo (har-pad-zo); from a derivative of NT:138; to sieze (in various applications): KJV - catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take (by force). Now, that is only a list of the English term caught up in the Bible; however, that term is the translation of the Greek word harpazo, which was not always translated to the simple two English words caught up, Therefore, for a complete listing of the usage of this underlying Greek word, we must use an Englishmans Concordance. Thus, with that reference volume we see the below complete list. Below is every occurrence of the Greek word harpazo in the Greek manuscript underlying the King James Bible (the Textus Receptus). The English words used to translate that Greek word harpazo into the English of the King James are highlighted in the below complete list: Matthew 11:12 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. KJV Matthew 13:19 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. KJV John 6:15 15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. KJV Acts 8:39 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. KJV Acts 23:10 10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle. KJV 2 Corinthians 12:2 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. KJV Jude 23 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. KJV Revelation 12:5 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. KJV By the way, this manner of word study is one of the best ways to really get an accurate feel for the weight and definition of a word employed by the Holy Spirit in the sacred writings (the Bible). You can get all the tools that I just above used by purchasing the Computer Bible Software: PC Study Bible Version 4 Reference Library + . It is an invaluable tool set. But you must change the default reference Bible in the program from the NIV (New International Version) to the King James Version (KJV) Bible, and from the Greek manuscript, Nestles Text, to the Greek Textus Receptus. Otherwise you wont get accurate results. But this is the Bible software that we use here and it has served us very well. Also note that you have to be careful of some of the free computer Bible software on the Internet as there are errors in most of them all. But they are better than nothing if you cant afford the PC Study Bible. The PC Study Bible program mentioned above is very reliable and exhibits perfect fidelity to the printed texts in every place that I have checked. And I have not in seven years of using it found an error, that I can recall. In other words, I highly recommend it. They offer several versions, each succeeding one having more reference words on-board (and costs more $$$). You need to get one that has at least the Englishmans Concordance, and the Interlinear Bible (the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts); everything above that is extra and not necessary. Also, some of the Commentary Works are bad doctrine. Anyway, there you have the scoop on the Greek word harpazo. As for your study on the so-called Rapture, we have quite a detailed Bible study of this topic on our Website, is found at: The Rapture Theory; What Does Gods Word Say About It?. To that study you could add the below Q&As which deal with the Rapture theory: The Didache, also known as the Teaching Of The 12 Apostles, A.D. 70-90, shows No Rapture prior to Christ 2nd Advent ...but we shall all be changed (1Cor 15:51): Is this some kind of Rapture??? Rebuttal to a Pre-Trib Rapturist Evil spirits in some churches; the danger to women by evil spirits; The Rapture theory and the bodies, carcasses, and eagles, of Mt 24 & Lk 17. What does the Rapture of the church mean, and is it sound doctrine? What is the difference between a Post-Tribulation Rapture theory and no Rapture at all? The Bodies and Corpses & Eagles and Vultures of Matt 24:28 and Luke 17:37 Also, we offer in our library/bookstore section two books on the matter (which we are only partially in agreement with [more on the Rapture origins in my upcoming book]): The Rapture Plot: By Dave Macpherson, a eye opening documentary of the dubious origin of the various Rapture doctrines. A must read for anyone who is staking their soul on the validity of the so-called Rapture Theory. Packed full of facts and history. (Approx. $14-$15) Incredible Cover Up: Excellent piece of documentary work! This book is some of the best Christian research I have ever read. It tends to be a little dry at times but hey its not fiction after all. The way Dave MacPherson researched the issue of the Rapture historically reads like he left no stone unturned. This book has given me a new way to look at my life and a new defense of my feelings that the Rapture is not part of Gods word. The Incredible Cover-Up needs to be in every church library and every Christian should read it. (Approx. $5-$6) Peace to you in Christ Jesus.
