[cont…] Equal sign: But you know what, the president was - TopicsExpress

[cont…] Equal sign: But you know what, the president was just in Virginia yesterday campaigning for McCauliffe – you remember him from the Clinton days, don’t you? Plus sign: I sure do. Equal sign: …and the president explained everything. Very simply he said, “What we said was you could keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law was passed.” Plus sign: Who’s “we”? Equal sign: All the people who said, “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” Plus sign: Other than the president, you’d have a hard time finding Democratic officials making that bogus promise. I think Pelosi said it…once or twice. Equal sign: How many times did the president say it? Plus sign: At least 29 times, so it’s fair to say he owns it in the same way Yogi Berra owns “Nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded”. It’s become part of him. I personally think he said “we” because his mode of operating is to blame others and deflect. Like you, I’ve been following him for 5 years and can say this without hesitation, even if it might offend you. But let’s keep our big boy pants on. Equal sign: Fine. Whatever. But that doesn’t mean what he said isn’t true. There’s lots of stinky insurance policies out there, lot’s of bad apples as the president said – Plus sign: He was casting blame. Equal sign: But if the insurance companies keep changing their policies, and pulling rugs out from underneath people, it’s not the president’s fault, he’s just trying to clean up the carnage. Plus sign: No, he is causing it. Equal sign: Are you saying insurance companies NEVER change their policies? Plus sign: I’m not saying that, but look at the timing. On October 1st the individual mandate kicked in, as well as all the hidden taxes, penalties, mandates, and additional and unnecessary coverage requirements (like a single guy having to buy maternity care) mandated by Obamacare. Obamacare itself changed the policies and millions of cancellation letters are sent out as a consequence. Equal sign: So…? Plus sign: So the president is basically saying this: “You could keep your insurance policy if it doesn’t change, but we are going to change your policy, so you cannot keep it.” Equal sign: So to be clear, and we need to be clear, the president did not explain anything in terms of what is happening with all those people losing health insurance, he just I guess basically inserted another talking point for talking heads to bat around. Plus sign: I think so, yes. And the count so far looks to be 15 million people getting insurance cancellation letters. And that’s just a consequence of the individual mandate. Imagine the explosion of cancellations that will surely come when the employer mandate kicks in next year. It was put off one year by the president, you may recall. Equal sign: And this was all by design? Plus sign: Had to be. Remember when Pelosi said something like “We have to pass the bill in order to see what’s in the bill.” Well, if she knew what was in the bill, what is currently playing out right now, do you think she would have been up front about it? Equal sign: Yeah. No. [still more coming…]
