#dalitwomenfight ~ Dalit Human Rights Defender Usha from UP sharing details of a case of attempt to rape on a Dalit woman. The victim belongs to dalit pasi community from uttar Pradesh and is a widow. The accused Devendra Singh was engaged in lending of money and providing of loans to the villagers..Devendra singh had promised UP-06 (name changed) to sanction a loan of 60,000 for her daughter’s marriage, however he demanded 10,000 as a bribe from her...UP-06 gave him the money. One day devendra singh came to her house and told her that he had got her loan passed. Devendra remained at her home under various pretexts..UP-06 was cutting vegetables when decided to leave..he had been harassing UP-06 throughout the day…he then asked UP-06 to come to drop him as they dogs would harass him…UP-06 was already pestered by him..so she agreed to drop him, however she took the knife with her…on the way near some trees devendra began to molest her…UP-06 told him that she is ready for it.. once he came near her she took her knife and chopped off his genitals and ran away.. nce the accused came to his senses he registered a case against UP-06...the police came at her home at night and took away her children...UP-06 then went in search of the cut penis..once she found the penis she took it to the police station along with her knife as a proof.. she has received compensation and continues fighting the case... ~ at the 'National Tribunal - Violence Against Dalit Women in India', via Sanghapali Aruna Kornana & Prachi Beula.
