dominant seat where the community constitutes about 70%of the total voters. It comprises of Malakpet, Karwan, Goshamahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura and Bahadurpura. Six out of seven Assembly segments were won by the MIM candidates while one seat Goshamahal was won by M Mukesh Goud of Congress. The sitting MP, Asaduddin Owaisi, was studying law in London in 1994 when he was summoned by his father and Hyderabad MP Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi to contest from the Charminar seat. The MIM was in trouble due to thesplit caused by the party MLA Amanullah Khan who later floated Majlis Bachao Tehreek. Asaduddin Owaisi was the lone MIM candidate who got elected tothe assembly in 1994. But soon he took control of the party and got re-elected to the assembly in 1999, besides ensuring partys victory on three other seats.Due to ill-health and old age, Salahuddin Owaisi retired from electoral politics in 2004 and Asaduddin got elected from the Hyderabad seat. He retained the seat in 2009 elections and this time too he is in the fray and is thestrongest contender. As against 13,93,242 electors in 2009 elections, there are 16,61,128 voters in 2014 polls. The increase of 267,886 voters including 43,386 electors aged between 18-19 years is not likely to have an impact on the results. While there were 23 contestants in 2009, there are 15 candidates this time including four independents. The prominent candidates include Asaduddin Owaisi of All Indian Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, S Krishna Reddy of Indian National Congress and Dr Bhagavanth Rao of Bharatiya Janata Party. The other candidates include Rashid Shareef of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, S Khaja Moinuddin of All India Azad Congress Party, Jaya Vindhyala of Socialist Party (India), Binghi Rajashekar Pyramid Party of India,Boddu Sainath Reddy of YSRCP, NMahender Singh of Nava Bharat National Party, Lubna Sarwath of Aam Admi Party, Syed Mustafa Mahmood of Majlis Bachavo Tahreek and independent candidates Md Osman, Shaik Moin, Syed Abdul Gaffer and M.A. Habeeb.Unlike 2009 elections, when Siasat Editor Zahid Ali Khan gave a tough contest to Asaduddin Owaisi, the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat is not likely to witness any keen contest this time. While Asad Owaisi is confident of a comfortable victory with a huge margin, his main rival Bhagavanth Rao of BJP feels that he could winthe seat on the plank of development. In Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, Goshamahal has the largest number of 266,641voters followedby Yakutpura - 257231; Karwan - 255,442; Chandrayangutta - 241,882; Malakpet - 235,448; Bahadurpura - 227,911 and Charminar - 176,573.Hyderabad MPs 1957 - 2009Year Candidate Party1957 Vinayak Rao Koratkar Indian National Congress1962 GS Melkote Indian National Congress1967 GS Melkote Indian National Congress1971 GS Melkote Telengana Praja Samithi1977 KS Narayana Indian NationalCongress1980 KS Narayana Indian NationalCongress1984 Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi Independent (MIM)1989 Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi MIM1991 Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi MIM1996 Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi MIM1998 Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi MIM1999 Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi MIM2004 Asaduddin Owaisi MIM2009 Asaduddin Owaisi MIMIts Anjan Kumar Yadav Vs Dattatreyya Vs Chaya Ratan In SecunderabadThe Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency comprises of Musheerabad, Amberpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar, Nampally and Secunderabad Assembly segments. The seat was won by Anjan KumarYadav of Indian National Congress in 2004 and 2009 elections. Yadav came from the grassroots. He was made the Hyderabad City Congress president in 2003, but was a non-entity in the factional politics of Congress. He was denied an assembly ticket in 2004 and he was staging a dharna in front of Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress headquarters. On the last day of filing nominations, the then Congress MLA D Nagender, who was denieda ticket from Asifnagar and was asked to contest from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat, joined the TDP. Since the Congress was not having any other candidate, Yadav was given the ticket from Secunderabad (which Nagender refused to accept). Thinking that he wont be able to win the election against the then union minister Bandaru Dattatreyya, Yadav didnt even campaign seriously. Surprisingly, he won the election and became an MP. He got re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009.Anjan Kumar Yadav did his BA from Dharmavanth College of Hyderabad. He was a good wrestler during his school and colleges days.As against 15,74,818 electors in 2009 elections, there are 17,91,402 voters in 2014 polls. The increase of 216,584 voters including 41,996 electors aged between 18-19 years is likely to impact the results of 2014 elections. While there were 23 contestants in 2009, there are 30 candidates this time including eight independents. The prominent candidates for Secunderabad seat are Anjan Kumar Yadav (Congress), BandaruDattatreya (BJP), T Bheemsen (TRS) and Narla Mohan Rao (AIMIM).The other candidates in the fray are Khaja Khalid Anwar (BSP), Abdus Sattar Mujahed (ABMLSP), Dr. N. S. Uday Kumar (Prem Janata Dal), Karankote Narender (All India Forward Bloc), Kumar Chowdary Yadav G (Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi), Khaja Sirajuddin Azaz (Majlis- Markaz -e-Siyasee Party),Chaya Ratan Musinipally (Aam Aadmi Party, B Deepak Kumar (Republican Party of India - K), Dr.Malathi Latha Eppa (Jantantra Party), Ch. Murahari (Socialist Unity Centre of India - Communist), Mohd. Imtiaz Hussain (Indian Union Muslim League), Raghu Deshaboina (Bahujan Mukti Party), J Ramulu (Revolutionary Socialist Party), Shakthi Satyavathi (Pyramid Party of India), K Srinivasulu (Jai Samaikyandhra Party), Syed Sajid Ali (YSRCP), K Sai Krishna Mohan Rao (Indian Christian Secular Party) and Sonusarsal Valmiki (Telangana Communist Party of India). The independent candidates are: Ananth Rao Gundepally, Avula Ranga Nayakulu, Michael Daniel Ovelz, Mohd. Abubakar Parwaiz Siddiqui, Mohammed Rizwan Hussain, S Lakshman Rao, Syed Madani Quadri and B Subramanyam. Before the filing of nominations, the contest in Secunderabad was expected to be stormy. While Siasat News Editor Amer Ali Khan was likely to be YSRCP candidate, GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain was tipped to be MIMs candidate. However, both the parties took a decision against this idea. The YSRCP fielded a less known figure Syed Sajid Ali while the MIM gave ticket to Mohan Rao. This has left two major players - Anjan Kumar Yadav and Dattatreyya in the fray. Former IAS officer Chaya Ratan is also contesting from the seat on Aam Aadmi Party ticket. Despite being a late starter, she is confident that the AAPs magic would work in Secunderabad.Meanwhile, Anjan has expressed confidence of winning the seat forthe third time. On the other side, Dattatreyya is hopeful of winning the seat primarily due his partys tie-up with the TDP and Modi factor.Traditionally, the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency is a Congress bastion. In 2009 elections, the Congress won five out of seven Assembly seats that fall in Secunderabad. They are Jubilee Hills (P Vishnuvardhan Reddy), Musheerabad (T Maneamma), Khairtabad (Danam Nagender), Secunderabad (Jayasudha) and Sanath Nagar (Marri Sashidhar Reddy). Except for Musheerabad where Congress replaced Maneamma with Dr P Vinay Kumar, the Congress gave tickets to all sitting MLAs. In Amberpet seat sitting BJP MLA and Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy is facing tough fightagainst Congress Rajya Sabha MPV Hanumantha Rao. Similarly, the MIM has replaced sitting MLA Virasat Rasool Khan with former Deputy Mayor Jaffer Hussain Meraj from Nampally Assembly seat. He is facing a strong opponent Feroz Khan of TDP.The voting pattern in these Assembly segments is likely to have a major impact on the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat.In Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat, Jubilee Hills has the maximum voters of 297,994 followed by Nampally - 267,601; Musheerabad - 267,407; Amberpet - 252,722; Khairtabad - 250,329; Secunderabad - 230,389and Sanath Nagar - 224,960.Lok Sabha MPs of Secunderabad.Year Candidate Party1957 Ahmed Mohiuddin Indian National Congress1962 Ahmed Mohiuddin Indian National Congress1967 Bakar Ali Mirza Indian National Congress1971 MM Hashim Teleng
