dropped off the cats. the vet assistant (the one who was wrong about the tinfoil!) really likes them as she has three kittens of her own--one of which looks just like ross, so im sure theyll be taken care of. and i asked about the cost and why they were 5x as expensive as the aspca center and it turns out the receptionist either read from the wrong list or added in procedures they werent having. bottom line is that it will be more like $180 instead of $400. thats still high, but much easier to live with. they said theyd call to come pick them back up and that theyd be fully awake by then. i was reading on webmd pet site last night about the procedure(s) and they said youre not supposed to let them lick the site too much which sort of surprised me as i thought that was the mechanism that animals used for all wounds. and they were less than forthcoming on how to restrict the behavior except one of those cones which im positive wouldnt survive 10 minutes. need to try to get in a nap to make up for the missing sleep and getting up this early. i have my own doctor appointment tomorrow, but at least its in abilene this time.
