even outside the mall, there was an altercation between senior police commanders and a senior military officer over a directive by the KDF that even top police who were not in uniform should leave Westgate. The KDF officer of the rank of a canon ordered foreign agents who were not in uniform to vacate the area. This resulted in a heated debate between the KDF officer and a top CID officer who protested the eviction of senior policemen from the scene. Some of the senior police officers vacated the area in protest and returned the following day while other police commanders defied the order. Yesterday, police spokesperson Zipporah Mboroki said: Forensic Investigations are yet to be completed after which we will know the truth. Last Friday Inspector General David Kimaiyo attended a meeting at the Department of Defence Headquarters where the fall out between the KDF and police over the Westagate operation was discussed. Kimaiyo was in the company of Interior Secretary Joseph ole Lenku. KDF officers reacted to reports in the media that they shot and injured Recce members inside Westgate. “We demand to know what the government thought about the allegations. Kimaiyo and Lenku assured us that thorough investigations were being conducted to establish the truth, said a senior KDF officer.
