experience, patience, and diligence. i have been at this for almost 18 years. my short answer is, i make jewelry, one-of-a-kind stuff like custom wedding rings and memorial pieces. about half of my work is custom and the rest is whatever i feel like making. my more precise answer is, i make wearable miniatures. i am a miniaturist who doesnt cast anything or use any pre-made parts. i am a sculptor working mostly in silver and gold and precious stones. but, what i really am, down deep, is patient and prolific and driven. i am no prodigy. my early stuff had nothing behind it but aesthetic. sure, ive always been smart and creative, but certainly didnt grow up immersed in any art culture and tons of classes, we didnt have jack in my arkansas high school as far as art. my best subject was french, thats all i gave a crap about, mostly thanks to reading en attendant godot and laughing my butt off. but then, in the summer of 1996, i spent time in taos, new mexico, with my uncle bubba, who taught me how to use tools and opened the door to my life, and my best defense against the psychological terror of being. i knew i had a path and for the first time in my life actually considered my future and decided i had one in art (proof of this is comparing my high school transcript-didnt care and it showed, to my college one-straight As). it has been a long, broke road, but, i am still on it. each piece born of a more refined feeling than the last. i may not have much of an image or a following, but my work stands alone, and i have put in a lot of years and trial and error and im not stopping until i die. i made this talent, i earned it, i built it, and it was WORK. some people are born with it, but, i believe hard work goes just as far and i am grateful.
