fakebook log 02.2136.12.2013 Snow report from atop Targhee follows: 02.1130-1545.12.2013 Still a better than average powder day - even with the heavy wind; though it was not as windy as town. I like to spread out my Columbia coated body so the wind catches me and sails me up the mountainside like a gravity-defying windsurfer...It was kinda bitter-sweet. The top of Shoshone was near unbearable, but fun. The powder was - amazingly - still light enough to be powder...with a hint of granular sand [somewhat abrasive snow]. To avoid the winds I spent the last two hours - after a PBR - on Sakajawea out of the wind for the most part. Powder was as good there and I was able to crank out several uninhibited runs with minimal vacatioinskier dodging...as I am a somewhat clumsy snowboarder aside from leftover rust from last season. I almost lost track of time In spite of the THIS RUN CLOSES at 3:30pm WARNING SIGN [thats 1530 log time]. Overall a good day. Snow prediction for the upcoming week: Sandy with a high chance of crust due to wind pac. The groomers will be set loose.
