for all of you that played havent yet finished zelda: occarina of time, majoras mask, and twilight princess look away. for those of you that have, i have a little something something i just found out. to get the timeline down in case you didnt quite get it, in majoras mask, link starts off with the ocarina of time. this is possible by link ending occarina of time in kid form (youtube/watch?v=ge8zd1ZR-hc @ 9:00) and at the end of occarina of time, link goes off into the lost woods to find navi. we see at the begining of majoras mask, that link is wandering in the lost woods, and gets attacked by majoras mask (controling the skull kid). at the end of majoras mask, link goes wandering in the woods without his fairy. as we know, people who go throught the lost woods without a fairy become a Stalfos. going back to the stalfos, they are the undead warriors. and if we go back further, into majoras mask we can remember that the BIG skeleton (skull keeta) guy gave you a mask to go to the emperor that the war was over. after doing so, he goes through all that he does in majoras mask and becomes a stalfos, as said before. now being a stalfos he remembers his orders he goes back into the castle, with the king defeated. Igos teaches him the song once again, and has him play it. the songs name was elegy of emptyness. playing this, instead of creating a statue, it fufilled the songs name and instead of making another statue it emptied him of his stalfos soul. he then got new ikana armor, and became the heros shade. now, in twilight princess, the trainer that randomlly comes to you and brings you to another realm was a stalfos. also, in twilight princess, the shade hero starts off as a wolf. this was because as a stalfos, the hero of time (link) came to minda in her time of need. she brought him into the twilight realm, which turned him into a wolf, just like the link in twilight princess. he is golden because he is a spirit. and MM was a metaphor. The 5 areas represent the 5 stages of grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. You could argue that MM was Links final moments. and so with that, the link that you played in occarina of time and majoras mask (the hero of time) is also your trainer in twilight princess. as you can see while he is training you, he refers to our bloodline (youtu.be/Uf1KaB0XGGg?t=8m23s) and as we see he also mentions true enemy (youtu.be/Uf1KaB0XGGg?t=12m18s) who is gandolf. at this point in the game, you dont know that gandalf is even there. since he already knew who was behind this, which may have even been a guess, we can infer that he knew that zant was not the one actually behind everything. and so, the link from occarina of time and majoras mask is the heros shade (trainer). if any of this doesnt make sense, just tell me because i kept going back and editing it and not checking if it made sense
