for anyone who had or still has war veterans in the family, happy Remembrance Day. I always cry now that Im sober, missing my grandfather, Cliff Hatch who served in the Canadian Navy in WWII. I never met my Native/Scottish/British grandfather, but I hear he lost his sense of smell over in France after serving in the Canadian Army and smelling so much death and destruction in WWII. His brother, my Great Uncle Lynn, helped bring down the nazis with his fluency in German on the day Hitler fell. Wow. Thats the only relative I ever met on that side of the family when I was a little girl. Im really proud of him. Proud of them ALL! Proud to wear a poppy to honour and respect them on this special introspective day. We are so lucky to live in this country that they fought so hard to keep free from Hitler and his allies (not like Harpi isnt another dictator, but thats an aside for another status). What an emotionally moving day! Have a good one everyone!
