for years Ive noticed that our beaches look generally gritty, sometimes with driftwood, sea weeds, garbage and worst.....as for the gritty part, I think Ive finally and belatedly made a connection why this is so.....the citys runoff is dumped into the ocean untreated...santa cruz has a rep of being ecology conscious...however, to me its sad many in town seem to be unconscious about outstanding particulars....the annual volunteer efforts by save our shores are appreciated, but i dont think theyre enough. besides steady attention to clean up, i want santa cruz to treat, reuse and repurpose runoff. I want the city council and board of supervisors to send staff to sacramento and washington d.c. to get funding for these purposes stat. i also want the word impossible erased from the community vocabulary. every excuse is unacceptable, greed for green is good! lets go!!
