Failure to do so may NOT result in any hardships a small percentage of the time, but in the vast majority of situations it will bite you so hard that you will need to change pants size. Seriously, last minute needs which could have, and should have, been addressed earlier will not be rushed at the expense of making a system, enclave, or network vulnerable to attack. I have seen and heard of instances when folks bow to the emergency, and inevitably those instances are followed by breaches of great severity. This is due to the change in mind-set of both technicians and customers (users) creating an enviroment and culture of fair-weather standards. I fully grasp and understand the fickle hand of fate, and in those situations the individuals and organizations which practice forethought inherently display greater facility in responding to the random situation. Further, they are often able to move forward unimpeded by shortages caused by the my emergency deserves special treatment mentality.
