Anderson’s environmental features, such as the White River corridor, are not only elements to be protected, but assets to be promoted as part of the community’s quality of life. Sound growth and development policies must be followed to ensure the continued vitality of the natural systems and features throughout Anderson. The Environment & Recreation chapter is intended to provide a guide for environmental protection and enhancement in Anderson. The environmental policies found in this chapter should be considered in concert with the land use and development polices found elsewhere in the plan as the community evolves. The White River is one of Anderson’s most important environmental and recreational assets.
