My father has been a Dedicated Socialist when you press him for his true sentiments for as long as I can remember. I mean sure they’ll tout the Democratic line but Idealistically they Run left of the party. But what really Grinds me is I’m not sure most people understand the “scope “of what Qualifies as “political” anymore. we’re Fighting about more and more of it. Economics as a profession for instance isn’t politicized there’s a consensus view but you wouldn’t know it from listening to the Two sides fight. Climate scientist are not Divided the way Politics is Physicist? forget it. But yet Science has unfortunately been politicized. they’ve been fighting the conservatives for years. This was “political” A Ban on Tarot Reading in the city of Front Royal Virginia Perspective wise once you become aware of what constitutes politics enough it becomes something you can Hate all you want but you can’t avoid it. There’s a Point of no return in other words as far as your “level of awareness” of how the world works and is run where Politics starts to intersect with and touch nearly every aspect of your life so much so that when people tell you you should go to college you already know you’re going to checking in with The Campus Democrats and Rolling your eyes at the activities of college Republicans before that shit even starts. You’ve become part of the system in other words so much so that Being oblivious is no longer possible. And that’s what most people are, they live lives of quiet obliviousness. And these days if I wasn’t with another Liberal We’d probably Fight over so many things that In my Naivety didn’t anticipate was a Sacred cow for conservatives and I’d just walk right over it without even knowing it and piss them off. I mean like I’m Really passionately pro LGBT and I’ve been that way for awhile and I Still have to deal with people all over the place that are like you’re a fag Not really. I’m Straight TYVM I just don’t consider it an insult anymore. But no I mean most of them Want to “Escape” from politics. I’m like you don’t. You’re just oblivious to how it intersects your Day to day life because you’ve never done enough Research and digging into the political system to actually understand it and enough debating about Politics to be aware of the ways in which it’s personal and touches your life. When people say they “hate politics” I don’t even know what they mean anymore for the simple reason that They seem to a very Narrow Definition of the term whereas mine is perhaps Extremely broad? Open? What I’m saying is essentially if I tried to escape from it it wouldn’t be very long before it was right back in my face anyways. To give you an Example that pagan story was What happened when I started trying to “get away” from it all with my friend one day and then it’s OH HAI THAR THERE’s GOING TO BE A HUGE FIGHT OVER TAROT READING LICENSES and Unnuaced Christians are going to refer to “tarot reading” as “fortune telling” instead of “Divination” and you’re going to look Weird if you know the difference. So … Yeah… It’s pretty Evident to me that I’m not going to be able to “Escape” the Politics. I just have to Deal with them Head first like everything else. which is why i’m selective, i angle not to be at the Dinner table with “conservative relatives” in the first place.
