genome.cshlp.org/content/early/2006/10/31/gr.5565706.full.pdf+html is one powerful item of evidence for ERVs being derived from retroviruses. evolutionarymodel/ervs.htm#Target_site_preference explains how we know that retroviruses do not target specific DNA loci. evolutionarymodel/ervs.htm#Amount_of_Shared_ERVs explains how we know that humans and chimps share the majority of their ERVs in common locations. The only explanation for the above is that retroviruses must have entered the germ-line in common ancestors. Brendan tried to insist that retroviruses do target specific loci. I repeatedly asked him to provided evidence for his assertion. He repeatedly failed to do so. Im beginning to have a faint suspicion that Brendan was fibbing. I cant find any evidence. Brendan cant find any evidence. Charleston cant find any evidence. Nobody else can find any evidence. What do you think, dear reader?
