godsradicaldaughter: Charm is deceptive because it draws each one of us into believing that beauty is something we have to work hard for. It makes us focus on what is seen, and what seems to be wrong or needs to be changed within ourselves. It subtly invites us to place a higher priority on what the world sees and thinks, rather than on what God thinks, and says. But, beloved, we’re not designed to be like that. That’s why fear of the Lord— worship— is important. It removes our eyes from ourselves, and fixes them on God, our Father. This world will tell us that if we place a little more effort on ourselves, we’ll be more beautiful and we will be able to impress everyone. It causes us to struggle, strive and, eventually, give up, hopeless. God’s way is different, though. His Word tells us that we only need to focus on Him, not ourselves. By beholding Him— the one true standard of Beauty— we are changed like Him. We are made like Perfection Himself by sitting on His feet, and drinking in all that He is, and receiving all the love, joy, peace and other things that He wants to give us. All of us are already beautiful, but in worship, in beholding God, can we really let the divine beauty— that portion of Himself— He placed within us to radiate into the world.
