good morning... as most of you know, i hit stuff with a hammer. . My sister asked me to make something to hold the ashes of a great man , a musician ive known for many years.Recently, its been a number of friends that have passed, but ive not spoken of them. Death is a bummer. period. John Fasano, an all around good guy and fellow movie nerd. who also happened to co write TombStone ... one of my favs... met him thru another a long time friend , michael gregory. we did and acrherey shoot, which turned into another..which was one of the funnest times ive had...here we are, trying to shoot a bullseye in the wind...and edie fasono nails the best shot of the day! it was so fun.. and when john passed, i went to the celebration of life for him. that was a first. i dont like to go to stuff like that. avoid it. Losing Master jess was hard enough. but i learned the value of that. Seeing his family , hugs, stories told...seeing people i hadnt seen i a long time...So it was a good thing. Well, this time , i couldnt avoid it either. i worked till three in the morning on the project, having done it between jobs over the last couple of weeks. i drove straight from hollywood til i got to the blues club up in the bay area..about 5and a half hours...got there just as it started. you dont know what to expect. well, his family had flown in from england..and it seemed that every blues cat and kitty that could make it did just that, a packed house. after a bunch of heart felt testamonials and both tears and laughter, some of the best blues ever was played . I even got to join his band for the set. that was a treat, because i had always wanted to play with him and the band..but had not felt i was good enough. buy the time i felt i was good enough, he was too sick...but he had told me he thought i was good enough. Playing with his band....that was special. there were more famous head liners there than at the actual blues festival.. meeting his son and brother, priceless. And makeing my sister smile... she knew i was busy, and might not make it..but i pushed everything aside,a as a brother should. so im going to share with you this lil piece of art, that i made by hand and by eye > His Name is Steve Gannon.. the band was kickin the mule. you can see them play on you tube.. oh yeah, and i drove up to that wake, that celebration, on my birthday. last place you want to be on your birthday... but it was the right place , i just didnt know it til i got there. have a great day.
