gratitude exercise day 6 of 7 today the weather reminds me again that I am grateful I am not responsible for the world. the sun rises and sets without my input and the weather patterns come and go without asking me permission or for any kind of thumbs up. I am part of this world, but am in no way the axis or Centre point and for this I am relentlessly thankful. i first noticed music when i was a young boy and cannot remember a time when I wasnt aware of its ability to transport and transcend. its magical mathematical and mythical qualities have never failed to intoxicate and delight me. sometimes it is lyrics (poetry) that teleport me somewhere internally or externally. other times the composition and the melody change my moment, my day, or my mind. i am truly grateful for the opportunities i have had to start over. i cannot imagine a life without that possibility now and again. even if i had to find it on my own, the people in my life, and the world i find myself living in supports more than one chance- and i have needed that. thank you i was nominated by Mark Diamond Wonder to participate in this exercise by writing 3 things i am grateful for for 7 days and nominating 3 persons each day to do the same. i encourage Gail Kali, Tommie Cooper Evans, and Melissa Cooper to change their day with gratitude. i have been reminded recently about a sort of gay mens anthem from 1984 which Jimmy Sommerville recently released after 30 years in a ballad format. His voice is stellar in both versions, but the poetry (lyrics) remains the glue that connected a tribe of gay men globally as we all shook off the mortal coil of bigotry as best we could in a time that was our most desperate and fearful. it didnt matter that we might face a silent deadly killer, we left our towns and homes because we couldnt have a life there any longer- if we were to be true to our souls.. Smalltown Boy- Bronski Beat You leave in the morning With everything you own in a little black case Alone on the platform The wind and the rain On a sad and lonely face Mother will never understand Why you had to leave For the love that you need Will never be found at home Pushed around and kicked around Always a lonely boy You were the one That theyd talk about around town As they put you down And as hard as they would try Theyd hurt to make you cry But youd never cry to them Just to your soul No youd never cry to them Just to your soul youtube/watch?v=Xuz94ZIPfJk
