great piece, this market is really unlike any other in the world. i think a lot of djs here are faced with this ridiculous decision of do you want to work, or do you want a career. great short term paycheck and nice whip for playing instantly forgettable open format sets 4 times a week, or eating ramen in a studio while you try to make music that resonates past the moment. were the exact opposite of LA in that we produce working DJs infinitely more frequently than we spawn career producers - on the national scene, there is literally no such thing as a working DJ. either youre making tracks and cultivating a fanbase, or youre not getting booked anywhere. here you can play multiple times a week, clock a six figure income, and nobody outside of vegas ever knows your name. its a strange beast. you really cant judge anyone either way...you cant question someones musical integrity because they pay rent, and you cant question those who choose to be broke and stick to their guns. im just out here tryina function. nice job Mike Prevatt
