had to raise an eye-brow and smirk when he read someone noting the irony of a Palestinian (i.e. `Abdullah Azām) promoting the idea of Muslims from all over the world taking part in a jihād to liberate a Muslim land, and primarily choosing as that land one which was halfway to the other side of Asia, nearly two thousand miles east of where he was from. It should be added that the statement was made in the context of discussion about the current conflict in Syria, and the burgeoning conflict in Egypt (which involves a group which humorously calls itself "AnSār Bayt al-Maqdis"!). At the very least, the actions (in contrast to the words) of the various militants involved in these conflicts over the last three decades are interesting. One wonders if a pattern can be discerned regarding the physical direction their bodies are pointed in when they actually start firing.
