...has been in a bit of a funk this week... All good things must come to an end, and they did this week. As most of you know, I have been driving the same truck since 1995. After 430,000 miles on 2 different chassis, the reality is that its just not worth putting money into any more. Thursday I went to DMV to turn in the plates and then to the insurance company to suspend my insurance. Its official. After countless trips to Florida, numerous trips to Charlotte, several trips to Dodge City, Maryland, Ohio, New Jersey and full seasons at every track I shoot video at since Ive owned it, its time. Shes tired and its time to put her down... hence, part of my funk. I have been on craigslist several times a day for the last 2 or 3 months looking mostly in the Charlotte, NC area because I need a worthy replacement thats not going to nickel and dime me in the next year or two. I was looking at full sized SUVs and pickups that come with V8s, and nothing Ive seen so far has prompted me to make a phones call. Hence, the other part of my funk. I got a phone call today from a buddy who had a bunch of excitement in his voice. Basically his end of the conversation went like this... If you havent found a vehicle yet, I think I got one for you. I went to look at it this afternoon... How about this? A 99 Ram 1500 5.9L club cab with (get a load of this...) 66,000 miles on it! Its not COMPLETELY rust free, but its damn near rust free. Nothing major. The interior of this truck is perfect, and it comes with an extra set of brand new mounted Blizzak winter tires. I am calling the bank on Monday.
