have a son diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. My son Lewys has overcome huge challenges and is an inspiration to his friends and family. I have also been inspired by the people who are constantly trying to make a difference to other peoples lives. In June 2013 I trekked the Alps of the Mont Blanc Massif and raise £2,813.01 for the National Autistic Society. Upon completing the challenge I decided to continue taking on challenges to raise much needed cash for non profit organisations and to help the smaller local charities who have attributed to my sons progress. I fund all equipment, flights and insurance myself so that every penny donated goes direct to charity. Autism Cymru is a national charity for autism, and is now into its second decade of driving forward the impetus and delivery of change for people with autism and their families. For over 10 years the charity has led and worked in collaboration with others in the public and voluntary sector to influence major policy changes. Autism Cymru are pushing ahead the research agenda in Wales. Autism Cymru brought together a partnership which led to both the development of the Wales Autism Research Centre in Cardiff University. In addition to bringing considerable financial investment into Autism research, this highly effective collaboration is promoting Welsh developments in research, policy and practice to countries throughout the world. None of this progress could be made without you. On May 1st 2014 I will begin my climb to The summit of North Africas Highest Mountain, and in doing so increase awarness and money to help the projects of Autism Cymru and all their partners including research into Autistic Spectrum Disorder at Cardiff University.
