have to admit - I get a little annoyed when certain chefs/personalities keep claiming that Supermarkets are to blame for having only perfect veg on sale due to specification requirements - and the rest goes to waste. They clearly dont have the intel which shows over many years that most people just dont want to buy certain things in supermarkets and leave them there to waste! Ugly looking veg is one of those things, many shoppers just want the best looking articles, and thats what they buy! I am someone who does not personally care if I buy out of spec/ugly looking but good quality veg, and the best thing to accept that this can also exist (and does in certain retail outlets) and heres hoping one of the big chains makes more of this 40% neglected veg for retail in 2015! Rant over
