hello all- I am starting with some good news!! The Black Forest Fire is 95% contained. 509 houses were destroyed, 17 were damaged and over 3,600 were saved. That sure is a lot of houses in about 14500 acres. 2 deaths :( The Royal Gorge Fire is 100% contained. It burned 48 structures most of which was the tourist attraction on both sides of the bridge. Here is the bad news. There is a fire west of Denver (the Lime Gulch Fire) burning out of control, one near Cotapaxi Co at a place called Texas Creek, which my Pike family is very familiar with cause it is one way to get to Westcliffe, two fires burning in the southwest corner of the state near Wolf Creek Pass and another huge one broke out tonight south of Walsenburg and Pueblo on the East Spanish Peak. This fire is also out of control and has already burned over 300 acres tonight. No rain is predicted over the next week and lots of close to 100 temps and wind. In woodland park we are supposed to be in the 80s. Praying for all the drought areas including us. It is scary to think of another fire making us leave again.
