hello peeps... welcome to our Sunday class. should you be wondering what Sunday class is, let give a little run down. In line with the vision of establishing this group, we shall be having a web and graphic class every Sunday on this group... and i will be online for most of the Sunday evening to answer any question on graphic and web design. For the purpose of getting familiar with our Sunday class, we are going to christen the class such that it will be easy for anyone to make reference to it. I have not thought about a name but i am hoping you guys can get your creative caps on and help me with that. Today we will start with the rudiment of web design. ENJOY!!!! ******************************************************************* WEB DESIGN TUTORIAL: LESSON 1 Traditionally, the introduction I give to this course is often about my humble self. i think you deserve to know who your web master is and what makes me qualified and competent to take this course. However, i am running on the extra battery on my PC has power supply has not been favorable to my crib. I run on generating set most times so you will have to pardon me and allow me go straight into the lecture proper. The idea about web site came up as an innovation to meet the need of the US military files sharing needs. The US military wanted to be able to access the files in a PC without actually needing to get to the PC physically... they needed a wireless file sharing system. so came the idea of having a remote base for sharing the file. This remote base is referred to as the server. All computers needed to connect to the sever to be able to share the file. This system became sophisticated with the use of protocol for connection and the need to have a software that will be use to access the server. this software used to access the server is called a browser. Examples of browser includes mozilla, google chrome, UCweb, Opera etc. This software where designed to interpret the information from the server to readable graphical format that can be understood by the reader/ user of the PC. The sophistication needed to ease file transfer lead to the creation of the language for the web. the language are HTML ( client side) and PHP ( server side). Modern day web design has become advanced and any one who want to become a web master you need to have a knowledge of HTML (hypertext mark up language), PHP (personal home page), Mysql, apache etc. However, lots of folks can design their own website without learning any of this codes. This is made possible with the help of CMS (content management system). examples of CMS includes blogger, drupal, wordpress, Joomla and with wysiwyg software like dream weaver can also be of help to you without learning the codes, but learning the code will always be an advantage. HOW I DESIGN MY FIRST SITE my first website( actually a blog- will discuss the difference between a blog and a site in the next lesson). Blogger was my aid. i went to blogger ( not that you must have a gmail account to get started). the was a notification asking if i will like to use my gmail profile , just accept and go on. then you will need to click on CONTINUE TO BLOGGER. yep!!! it is that easy. you have a blog site of your own ready to be launch with free domain and hosting. just fill in as appropriate the form provided.
