help ----- i am looking for one or two new cameras ...... m has a nikon coolpix that is 3x zoom - about 6 years old battery door is broken, she has it working with a popcycle stick and rubber band. other wise it still works mine is fuji with about a 15x zoom - the battery door is alsoo broken - mine now requires a rubber band to hold it shut. plus an olympus snorkleing camera. uses xd, not sd cards. we have some old sony digitals that use 3 1/2 inch floppies. time to consider new cameras and to add to the pile of the old (box in closet) ..... what to buy? slr or not? i looked at nikon at best buy with high optic zoom (42) but it did not even look sharp through the view finder at high zoom? cannon offered a 50 x zoom but they did not have power to it? none of their digitals were powered .... i like to be able to reach out and take the longer shots...... m basicallly wants one to just take photos who has a camera to suggest? she wanted to drag out the old fim based cameras in the winter to get eagle photos ... we have a 300mm lens there .... film is not just everywhere for this. so yes to a long lens on at least one of these for sure.
