heres a strange disease called phantom limb.the reason that its strange is that people complain of pain in their limb which is actually amputated. I read about a person whose legs were severely injured in an accident and later were amputated.After a few weeks he called his doctor complaining of pain in his knees!!! which no longer exist!! then some researches concluded that this is brain continues to receive sensory impulses from that missing limb. My question is if there is pain even after amputation which means the sensory nerves still exist what was the need of amputation when the pain was not there but in the brain??
