hey ma, i used to put bjorks unravel on mixtapes that had a heavy lovesong element because those were always my favorite to make. i always heard it as a romantic lovesong. somewhere along the way, i learned that she wrote it for her mother. further along, i stopped making tapes. eventually, i stopped making mixes. i may have even stopped loving. every moment you are gone has been a superb shattering, but hearing this song again i know that the shards left over will look nothing like what they used to, and it is all so fitting for this to be on the only holiday for which you ever truly got excited. i will find my comfort in knowing that there will be nothing left to break afterward. i may finally start to live. to that end, ill go on and show you now everything you were never able to see before. i would like to believe that is all you ever really wanted out of me. the devil collects it, with a grin, our love, so when you come back, well have to make new love
