#hmmmm# A Nigerian man went to spend some time with an American friend named Joe. When they got home, Joe went straight to his wife, gave her a hug and told her how beautiful she was and how much he had missed her at work. When it was time for supper, he complimented his wife on her cooking, kissed her and told her how much he loved her ......in the presence of the kids..... Can a Nigerian man do that? How many of u have seen ur dad toast ur mum in ur presence??? When you look at old European couples, they still play around with each other as if they fell in love just yesterday. Nigerian couples wouldnt do that. I am a man but i cannot put sentiment into this issue. If there is anything Nigerian men are lacking in large proportion and in general it is the art of showing public affection to their wives! A lot of us grew up in homes where affection was not shown by parents because thats how they were also raised! A typical Nigerian mans romantic sense drops sharply after wedding or after a baby or two because he has been pretending all the while. Some call their wives madam or Mrs in the presence of the kids...lol... I remember this joke that says a Nigerian man would only open the door to his car for his wife only if the door is bad i.e she finds it difficult opening it herself.....lol... It seems that culture demanded that older generations be more conservative in showing their affection. But I wanna ask... Do u believe in public display of affection? Is it immoral? Is it forbidden in our culture?
