And no ounce Or bit Or fragment Or amount lost across The counter And swept beneath The door Into a crevice can be retrieved Is morning worth The wait? The gentle sunshine That creeps Through the merchants Window stained By a cloudy expired breath Bought by the byproduct Of sleep And haunting dreams That remain In the tangled sheets Where beasts and bed bugs bite Excruciatingly Along the bewildering mile To leap Feet first from a fantasy To the floor.
