https://amazon/gp/aw/d/B00KGMHZB4/ref=aw_ss_kndl_dp/ Kai opened her eyes. IV bags hung above her head and the room was still. Her eyes fluttered. It was like deja`vu. Her heart was pounding and her body felt so frail and weak. She remembered a previous worry over where Landon was. That concern returned to her as she stared down at the wires hanging from her with glazed eyes. Dr. Hayes walked in with another doctor in tow and all Kai could do was look at them with saddened eyes. “Hey you, welcome back,” Dr. Hayes stated. What?” Kai didn’t understand. She was none too happy to be back in the hospital trapped in a room attached to machines. His humor was lost upon her. “You gave us quite a scare for a minute.” The other doctor smiled at her. “Who are you?” “Dr. Martine. I was the physician on call today.” The memory of being assisted into the hospital hit her. Kai was fuzzy on the events that ensued before that moment as she currently lay there looking at the relieved faces of two medical professionals. “I’m sorry…what? What happened?” Dr. Hayes touched her hospital sheet covered leg gently and spoke as gingerly as he could, given the topic. “We lost you for a minute.” “By the time you made it into the E.R. you had a fever of nearly 104 and a pulse rate of 138. Your blood pressure was considerably low. 85 over 52 to be exact. With your pressure being so low you flat lined, Mrs. Davis…meaning—“ Kai sat up quickly and began to panic. There was no way that she was hearing that man correctly. He didn’t know her. She didn’t know him. Surely he had her mixed up with some other patient. She looked to Dr. Hayes for some form of explanation. “I almost died?! I almost died?” Hayes held his hand up to silence Dr. Martine. “She knows what it means.” He sat on the edge of the bed and tried to calm Kai down before she worked herself up into an anxiety attack. “Almost doesn’t count Kai. You’re still here with us. God isn’t done with you yet.”
