My mom who was a devoted Christian believer was against because of the dangers of the Secret World... But she had no choice otherwise my life would be taken... I was personally very curious and excited...Besides the family stuffs, among the things we learned were the deities and dance steps that related to them...We learned yoruba songs and poems and other secrets that shall never be shared... I could have never imagined that many of the things I heard and witnessed during our initiation would appear and haunt me through a music and dance called Salsa. I remembered one of my uncles saying Youre initiated, meaning youre just aware. Its the beginning of the knowledge. If you want to become a master, a guardian of our traditions you must dedicate your life...But Elegua (Legba) has opened other possibilities and I followed a different path that led me to pursue a Western education and find myself in Asia... Today, I realize that I should have learned more about our African treasures...Eventually, Salsa gives me the opportunity to reconnect with my roots and contribute in sharing the tradition...
