https://facebook/events/447465438716268/ It was always going to come. As we see RSPCA Qld, NSW and SA open their doors to Rescue and actively and openly work with Rescue - and see programs such as The Big Adopt where over 100 pets are adopted via Rescue and the RSPCA working together - we are now seeing the general public rallying against the big three in Victoria. The Cat Protection Society, The Lost Dogs Home and the RSPCA Vic. Having heard that the Lost Dogs Home are working with Rescue (I know of 2) and the RSPCA (I know of 2 - as well as horse rescue etc) I wonder why that is not considered enough for the public. I do know that the RSPCA Qld work with 80 rescue groups - actively send out a list weekly of animals available to rescue - and as a consequence 800 lives were saved there last year alone. I guess what the bottom line will always be is killing. The argument is always about killing. The community is always upset about killing. The organizations defend themselves about the killing. It is now at the point where it will never go away - and the community is more aware, more informed want a lower/better rate of well.....killing. I think about staff working in these places that desperately want a better chance for our pets. I think of the staff like RSPCA Qld whom I know personally and how badly this makes them feel - how they feel it reflects on them. All I can say is if you didnt think this was ever going to happen where the community and animal loving public want better from our animal welfare facilities who are maybe in denial, or think they dont need to change, or dont want to change - then its right at your doorstep. This is never ever going to go away. This is the start. Like civil rights or workers rights - societys expectations are going to over ride the lack of progress. And so it begins. 2 March. See you there.
