County DCFS Social Worker Fabricates No Recording Policy WARNING: Viewers will hear a beep sound when the names of the parent and children are called for roll. This occurs at the :13 and :33 second marks. It is recommended viewers adjust their audio setting to the lower end of the scale the first time watching this video. The left side of the video has been obscured to protect the identity of the family. Social Worker Margo Sellers (right) informs a parent that recording a meeting is “not permitted” because it is a violation of DCFS policy. “It’s not policy,” claims Sellers. “It’s not a policy that we allow. We just don’t allow it [recording by the parent]. That’s not permitted.” Sellers’ false statement at this May 6, 2014 meeting is in response to the parent’s comment to Social Worker Kyle Skates (left) referencing his fast exit the last time they met and her hope this time he chooses to stay. Weeks prior to this meeting, the parent was paid a visit by Skates. Upon entering the home Skates was informed the meeting was being audio recorded as protection against DCFS in the event his report did not accurately reflect events. Skates chose to not conduct the interview and left the home. The Political Observer contacted DCFS Director Phillip Browning’s office seeking clarification on Sellers’ dictate that a parent is prohibited by policy from recording meetings. The response from Director Browning’s Office: “With regard to the policy portion of your inquiry, we do not have policy that directly addresses a parent audio or video recording a meeting, but we are still researching our practice regarding this issue.” More videos are forthcoming, including one documenting the kidnapping of this parent’s children from home one month after this meeting by DCFS Supervisor Dave Collins – a.k.a. “Little Dave” – and one of his associates. The child-stealing duo was accompanied by three L.A. County sheriff deputies – just doing their job following orders.
