https://youtube/watch?v=1l0ovceQBME Hey guys just wanted to get your feedback on the information presented in this video. Yes, like the title says, its TL;DR(Too Long Didnt Read), and they are referring indeed to KPop(which I happen to like, dont judge me LOL). But I was wondering if this same sort of thing happens to bands here in the US, whether they be purely singing groups or if pertains to instrumentalists, even in a similar capacity. Sorry if this is against the rules; Im hoping to hear from a few of you in this community we have here who are in bands and maybe are signed or have dealt with major labels and whether these sort of practices exist. Hope yall dont get in trouble for divulging. Would the same thing happen in the PnW world with some of the bigger labels like Integrity, etc. I dont think these guys are talking out of their butts since(to provide some background) they do live in Korea and have connections to many of the groups, especially those with english speaking members. I was watching this and it brought to mind a rig rundown someone did of 311s Tim Mahoney and he sort of mentioned in passing about how after they signed their record deal they had money to be equipment(in reference to his Diamond Phantoms and PRSes), and was wondering if the money he talked about getting is related to their bands break-even point. Thoughts?
