https://youtube/watch?v=8ShGqFx8rkg I dont mean to get all mushy on a Friday but I heard this song and instantly thought about a place I like to visit called Wilson Field. Its a nice little grass strip 10 miles west of Crawfordsville. A very short hop home to a nice hanger with a few birds, cars and older pilots. These gentleman have been nice enough to take me under their wing and its turned into my little place slice of heaven I like to visit. For me its a place to get advice and hear some good stories. Hearing stories from older (not necessarily in age but experience) pilots is one of my favorite things about being a young pilot. The feeling I get sittin and listening to such stories also comes to mind when I hear this which I guess I associate with Wilson. I guess you could say they are the pilots I like to consider the uncles of my aviation family Ive managed to piece together over the past few years. The past year and a half though that family has seen a significant growth. Its not only grown to not just pilots but mechanics and aviation enthusiasts. I even consider my mechanic, whom Ive known since I was 15, a part of that family as Ive learned so much from him from the little time Ive personally spend with him. It truly is hard to explain but it all the more makes me realize Im right where I belong. If I had gone any other route I dont think I would have as much of a memorable experience. I might be behind the curve in terms of hours compared to others at the point I am but I truly think it has been worth it. The past two and a half years especially have felt like five with all the things Ive been able to do and experience. I truly feel blessed that I have found where I belong so early in life. I really cant imagine what is to come. I only look forward to the future and fly off into the rising sun towards my latest adventure. I know it will be full of wonderful food, unbelievable views, beautiful airplanes and last but not least, unforgettable new friends to add to my family.
