https://youtube/watch?v=BGWVHyKRV2I My two favorite Judge Spaulding Stories: 1) During my interview - which I was nervous as all get out for - he looks at my resume and without looking at me he proceeds to ask me about my love of the Washington Nationals - which I know wasnt on my resume. Of my hour long interview, 45 minutes was talking about baseball. Im absolutely convinced that conversation got me my clerkship with him. 2) After a few months of working with the good Judge, he comes into my office and proceeds to tell me that his favorite band - Steely Dan - is playing in Indianapolis in a few weeks and that he wants, and I quote, good seats & I need you to get them for me because the Dana Lynn Walters, his long time secretary, was on vacation. He then hands me his credit card and takes the bench. Two hours later, with the ticket broker on the phone and the ticket website pulled up, I desperately ask him if the seats I had were good enough. I was so worried that the seats I had secured werent good enough, that I sweated through my shirt. He truthfully was the best mentor and had forgotten more about the legal process in West Virginia then I will ever be blessed to know.
