(including Annie being black) When Annie was first written (the character), being Irish meant being discriminated against and dealing with many of the same things that POC deal with today. The point of the story is related to acceptance and to be rid of stereotypes and bigotry. As gingers and the Irish are no longer treated that way, it makes perfect sense to update and modernize the story in order to keep true to the moral and point of it all. the addition of house music, modern artists and a rewrite of some lyrics obviously will happen if you bring it into modern times The new Annie is amazing and if you havent seen it go see it or stream it somewhere.
