When my father got transferred from Dehradun to Mumbai in Oct 78, we settled down in Sector 1, Vashi. NMHS was the only school. Father approached Mrs Asha Dighe, the school principal for admissions. I remember vividly that day when my father, myself and younger brother were sitting in the principals room. She told my father that though the school did not have any vacant seats (it was already mid-term), she would try her best to accommodate. She did keep her promise. Myself and younger brother joined the school and we had a wonderful education. I can never express enough my gratitude to her. Always feel grateful to the teachers who showered their affection in abundance. Today I remembered this song Ek Chidiya Anek Chidiya produced by Films Division. Film has a superb message that if we are united, we have immense strength. I hope and pray that the entire school, its teachers, staff, students and ex-students come together to bring joy and pride back to our alma mater. Task is huge and requires help, assistance and co-operation from everyone.
