i copied this fromAllan Jc Smith IVsstatus some facts about star wars that may make you think differently about the jedi and the sith. Fact number one: The jedi encourage brain washing as a common means of dealing with problems. Jedi Mind Trick. Not only is this a commonly accepted practice, but certain jedi are known to practice it at an entirely casual and dismissive level. Exhibit A. Obi Wan Kenobi when offered death sticks in the bar during the Clone Wars movie and - without having ANY knowledge of this particular guys troubles, why he was selling death sticks or having any idea how much damage he could be doing, promptly brainwashed the guy to go home and rethink his life. Even if you think it was likely that Obi Wan was right to do this, Obi Wan knows nothing about the situation, and has no idea how much damage his action might cause. Not only that, but he doesnt care. There are plenty of examples of similar activities in the video games and novelizations. Fact number two: the Sith order exists because the jedi declared jedi on them. No, seriously. Originally the sith were a species that basically expanded like Colonial England did, forging an empire through their sector of space. When the jedi order discovered that the Sith species powered their force with their emotions, and that they basically behaved in the EXACT way that Colonial England treated India, the jedi declare a genocide on the sith species. This is not an exaggeration. With no direct provocation, the jedi declare that every single member of the Sith species must be eradicated. The sith order that survived basically became an underground movement from that time on, occasionally rising up to combat the jedi order as a whole either for individual reasons or in response to that history. Please note, that this genocide included the active murdering of sith babies. Fact number three: in the expanded universe (note, no longer Disney Canon) the Emperor and the Sith Order are the sole saviours of the galaxy. About thirty years after the movies, an intergalactic species called the Yuzung Vong who are immune to the force appear intent on galactic annihilation. The sith, knew about the incoming threat, but because they were sith, and persecuted, if they tried to go public about it they would be murdered for being sith. Combating the Yuzong Vong was one of the reasons Palpatine formed the Empire and started the clone war, it was to militarize the galaxy to combat that threat. Even after his death, Palpatines work is the sole reason the galaxy survives. During that arc, the empire is re-established by the republic, and all over the galaxy the infrastructure the original empire built was the only reason the galaxy survived. Note, in this arc many movie characters die, including Chewbacca, who has a moon thrown at him (yes, that is a thing). Fact number four: most of the more prominent and influential sith in the expanded universe are jedi who get disillusioned or see error in the jedi ways. While one can argue that these former jedi were corrupted by the dark side and whatever personal motivation they have, look at Count Dooku. His reason for separating is because he knows Palpatine exists and he believes the republic and the jedi are corrupt and a failed system - And Hes Right. If you look into the Trade Federation, you cannot provide a suitable reason to paint them as the bad guys. Sure, the trade federation and several other groups that join them are basically large corporations with vested interest, but take a look at who joins them. Every, single, agricultural planet in the galaxy. The farmers of the galaxy, and hundreds of other unsatisfied worlds, join the federation after systematic abuse by the republic. Oh, and the trade federation? One of their big goals is to equalize the status quo of these worlds so that the agri-worlds get paid for their service and arent treated as slaves. This is WHY they use droids as soldiers. If Telstra were to say it hated Australian policing of the internet, and how all Australian farmers are being economically abused, and Google were to join them in this, and almost all of Australias farmers were to turn around and sign on to become a federated collective with them and separate from Australia, whos side would you be on? The farmers? Or the government officials and franchises that are sending the farmers destitute? Fact number five: Grey jedi and the Unified force theory. So, grey jedi are basically force uses who kind of agree with the jedi ideals but dont neccessarily agree with their practices of self-policing and think that a middle ground is better. The unified force theory, however, is the theory that there is no such thing as light and dark, there is only the force. When recognized, jedi gain the ability to use the force with no restrictions and achieve incredible feats that are normally impossible. The thing is, this isnt a theory, this is Star Wars fact. There are three jedi who are recorded to achieve this state of being in the expanded universe, one is Darth Vader, and another is Han and Leias son, Jacen Solo, who after being trained by his uncle Luke, falling to the dark side and then coming out the other end wields enormous cosmic power. Fact number six: Everything we know about the jedi council. So a few things, first, almost every decision is made by either Mace Windu or Yoda. MAJOR decisions of the council, that we watch in the movies and read in the books, receive ZERO deliberation by the council as a whole and it is one of either Yoda or Mace Windu who make the decision. However, look at some of the decisions the council makes? Giving Anakin directly to Obi Wan to train when it is clearly established that they have an entire training facility for it, and the expanded universe clearly states that a padawan isnt supposed to leave the temple until they are in their mid to late teens. Making Anakin a master but banning him from the council, seeing his clearly emotional state, and not offering him any form of counciling or psychiatric help to deal with whatever stress he is under. And finally, as we learn in the novelization of movie three, having vaults of hidden knowledge that only masters with a seat on the council are permitted access to, including - quite literally - every record on the sith. Remember Fact number five? The whole unified force theory? Yeah, the jedi council literally ban the learning of that sort of thing. Remember the jedi code? There is no Ignorance... there is knowledge. The jedi council LITERALLY restrict knowledge and censor jedi who explore knowledge, other than what theyve been permitted, in direct violation of the second law of the jedi code. Thats like if the Catholic Church said Seek knowledge, study science, learn everything, only by doing this can you become closer to god and then locked up every science text book in the world so that only the pope and cardinals could read them. So in a nutshell: The jedi brainwash people as standard protocol. Theyve committed genocide and continue to commit the crime without trial or due process. They actively prohibit learning and knowledge. They have a corrupt council that doesnt understand anything about human psychology. Theyre hypocrites. The most prominent bad guys are regularly jedi who see one or more of these errors, and finally, the sith are THE reason the galaxy survives an intergalactic invasion and this was one of their Primary Reasons for creating the Empire because there was No Other Way they could save the galaxy while the Jedi were actively trying to murder them over thousands of years. So yeah, the sith, individually, may be a product of emotional turmoil, power driven and hungry madmen, but as a group theyre a violently persecuted people whove committed no worse crimes than we as a species have, and theyre the true heroes of the star wars universe
