i dislike how western media report on sharia, as if sharia only means strict fundamentalist islamic law, when what it really means is a code of laws based on some kind of prophetic religion. so the sultan of brunei didnt up and enact sharia; that country has always followed law based on the quran to some extent. its that hes bringing about an extremely conservative type of sharia is whats worrying. in my estimation, though, there has to be some better reaction to the muslim world than to just treat them as other. how do you reconcile with people you make no attempt to understand?
